- Water your seed regularly after planting and place it where it will get enough sunlight so as to keep them warm( or place the seeds near a heating pad).
Note:
- Keep your seeds in temperatures of at least 70 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Harden off your seedlings before transplanting because bell pepper is vulnerable to transplant shock.
How to Hardening your Bell Pepper
- Gently introduce your seedlings to field condition( external temperature) for small amounts of time per day at about 10 days before planting.

- Keep your seedlings 18 to 24 inches apart.
- Bury root ball of the seedling deep into the soil while ensuring that only the seedling leaves are above the soil
- Note:
- Transplanting should be done When your garden soil temperature has reached at least 65 degrees Fahrenheit (and night temperatures should be at least 60 degrees Fahrenheit).
- Well-draining soil is the most suitable for planting bell pepper.
Growing Care
Mulch well: Black mulch can help absorb the sun and keep ground soil warm.
Water carefully: Bell peppers need a deep watering, although they like warm weather, they will not flourish in intense heat. Dry conditions will cause bitter tasting peppers but overwatering can suffocate the roots or lead to blossom end rot.
Provide sun: They need full sun to grow and ripen properly, so keep them in sunny spot in your garden. Unless in climate susceptible to extremely high heat and intense sunlight, in which case shade cloth or nearby plants can be used to manage temperatures.
Use the right fertilizer: Fertilize with a compound that is low in nitrogen to help grow without affecting the rate of fruit production.
Stake: While not a necessity, staking your peppers can help keep them off the ground, away from pests, reduce sun scald. Bell pepper leaves usually provide somewhat of a canopy for the fruit and staking can help them upright and protected
Check for pest: Aphids and flea beetles are two garden pests that love bell peppers. Use organic insecticides and tend to your plant often to keep pest invasions under control.
Companion plant: Bell peppers do well around corn, cucumbers and carrots but won’t thrive near cabbage family plants.
- Harvest
Cut or break pepper off the plant but leave at least 1″ of the stem attached to the pepper.
