The Layflat hose is used in Drip irrigation installation as the main tube pipe that carries water from the water source throughout the drip irrigation system.
It is a form of polyethene that is reinforced to make it stronger while maintaining good flexibility and freeze resistance. It is less likely to be damaged by a light frost.
The drip irrigation layflat hose mainline pipe for irrigation is a premium drip irrigation and water discharge hose. It’s mostly used as mainline irrigation Hose.
Characteristics of the Layflat Mainline Pipe Hose
It is a flexible and reliable PVC based hose.
It can be used as a feeder hose, main/subdomain or for general purpose water discharge applications.
Features
Medium Pressure with a working pressure of between 45 to 80 PSI (pressure is related to the diameter of the hose).
Color – Blue/Black.
Diameters – 1 1/2″ to 6″
Features a balanced polyester yarn spiral wrap, longitudinal strength member and homogeneous PVC tube and cover to prevent separation.
Precaution Steps
Farmers prefer to pull it up and put it in bin boxes, or just roll it up in a roll and others use a pallet or half or quarter pallet depending on how much there is to roll up.
Also, make sure you do rodent control where you store it.

It is used worldwide as a flexible sub-main for irrigation lateral lines, and for general water transfer, and can be easily rolled up and used again for different applications or planting cycles
DRIP DESIGN GUIDE
Step 1: Add up your total row feet of drip tape in each field. Figure GPM (gallons per minute) in each field by total feet x flow rate of tape.
Step 2: Pick Sub-main Pipe size by your flow going through. 1 1/2” up to 17 GPM 2” up to 35 GPM 3” up to 75 GPM 4” up to 160 GPM. We usually use flat-tube (Oval Hose)
Step 3: Choose a manifold that fits the layout of your fields and carries enough water for that field. Manifold B is most desired because of even pressure over sub-main.
Step 4: Choose the Main Line that will carry GPM for each field that you would like to water at one time. 1 1/2” 30 GPM, 2” 50 GPM 3” 110 GPM 4” 190 GPM. We usually use Layflat.
Step 5: Choose Media Filters that will allow enough flow for all fields that you would like to water at one time and handle the pressure. Fiberglass Filters are the most popular and handle up to 50 psi.
Step 6: Choose the Fertilizer injector. For pond systems, we recommend a Mazzei Injector. For Homeowners and Gardens (large or small), the EZ Flo is an excellent choice.
Step 7: Pick a pump that will deliver enough water and leave you with enough pressure to make the injector, filters, and loss in the pipes. Please call for assistance.
Step 8: Decide on your fittings you would like to use: 400B fitting or 420-BV-06-LS that has a valve on each row. Add up the total number of rows and order one fitting for each and a punch.
Step 9: Order fittings to go around obstructions and to mend pipe as needed. Tape couplings, goof plugs, clamps, Insert fittings
